Grand Spectacles at the Marriott Grand Ballroom

Recently, a new events venue was officially unveiled at the Resorts World Manila complex, the Marriott Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel Manila. And looking at the figures, it does live up to its “grand” name; in fact, it already holds the record of being the largest ballroom in the Philippines.

The 3-level structure was designed by international hospitality firm Gettys Group with its interiors designed by notable Filipino interior designer Kenneth Cobonpue. With over 8000 square meters of function space, which includes the 3000 square meter main ballroom, it was designed to be not just a hotel events venue but a notable addition to the Philippine MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions) scene as the country is being promoted as an ideal venue for international conventions and exhibitions.

LEGO Lovin’ at Resorts World Manila

I don’t know about you but to me and many others, there is this certain charm about LEGO toys that is irresistible regardless of the age you belong to. Perhaps it’s the concept of building something from those bricks and their ability to let our imaginations fly that makes them such fun things to play and build with.

With such a faithful and growing following over the years, it is but proper that there are events dedicated to this beloved brand. For the first time ever in the Philippines, a Lego-dedicated event was recently launched at Resorts World Manila with the opening of BRICKXHIBIT, which showcases the largest LEGO display opened to the public and the ABRICKcadabra, the first ever LEGO convention held in the country. For LEGO aficionados, it was about damn time.

Newport City and the evolution of an entertainment complex

It is no secret that Newport City aims to be a premier entertainment complex that boasts of a strategic location, thanks to its proximity to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport whose Terminal 3 is just right across it. In fact, it has been given a certification by Philippine Economic Zone Authority as a Tourism Economic Zone.

One of the components for this complex are the hotels. At present, 2 hotels are now operational, 1 is currently under construction, and yet another 1 is being planned. The fact that 4 hotels are being envisioned to rise here is a sign of how optimistic the developers/partners Megaworld and Genting Group are with the success of this venture.

Newport City: one year later

It was late August last year when I last visited the young Newport City to check out the entertainment complex there called Resorts World Manila which had its opening that time. Since it was night time and considering the activity that was going on in the development site, I haven’t checked out the area quite much that time. And I did promise to come back to see what’s going on.

It took me a little over a year, but I came back as promised, as an urban roamer who is out to fully explore what’s out there and what’s new at that township development project of Megaworld that is Newport City.

just opened: Newport City’s Resorts World Manila

Last August 28, a new landmark in the metropolis was unveiled in a “soft launch” of sorts.

Yes, the Urban Roamer was there on the opening of Resorts World Manila, the gaming entertainment project of Alliance Global, Star Cruises, and Megaworld (the same developers behind Eastwood City among others) located on the yet-to-be-completed business-commercial hub of Newport City, which also happens to be another project of Megaworld.
