    Trying To Save A Life

    For the past few days, the talk of the town, and of the country as a whole, was the fate of Mary Jane Veloso, a Filipina who is facing the death penalty in Indonesia for attempting to smuggle illegal drugs in the country back in 2010. Veloso has maintained her innocence as she stressed the drugs were put in her belongings without her knowledge and that she went to Indonesia solely for work and not to bring in drugs. Nevertheless, the Indonesian court ruled that she would sentenced to death by execution, thus triggering a wave of action calling for Mary Jane’s life be spared from the firing squad.

    Mercato @ Glorietta: Mercato Centrale’s New Makati Venture

    As someone who has been somewhat abreast with the developments in the metropolis, the Urban Roamer knows all too well the travails of Mercato Centrale with its several attempts to establish itself in the Makati CBD area. There was the food truck concept at Glorietta 1 Park to the one at the carpark rooftop to the one inside Glorietta mall itself, all of them eventually fizzled out. Now Mercato Centrale is making another attempt to establish themselves in Makati, this time at the Glorietta 4 Park. There are no fancy concepts, just the straight-old Mercato experience folks have come to love known as the Mercato @ Glorietta.

    It’s Intramuros Pasyal Sunday Again

    It’s been a while since the Urban Roamer checked out the last Intramuros Pasyal Sunday event, the one I last attended was last year. So I’m glad to be back at such an event. Throughout the afternoon until the evening, a portion of Gen. Luna Street was closed off to vehicles as that part of the road became a lively outdoor fair of sorts as various stalls were set up to offer their different wares and goods.     We normally think of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) as a bustling business and commercial district where many work, shop, and have fun.
