FAME’s Bloggers Night 2014

It was the time of the year once again for Christmas parties, and the Urban Roamer was fortunate to have been invited by FAME Publishing for this year’s party for bloggers, an event called “Holiday Delights.”

My thanks to the people at FAME Publishing not only for inviting me to grace this special event, but also holding such an event that recognizes bloggers. Continue reading

Check out Crossroad Magazine’s 1st Issue!

Whether you are fond of reading magazines online or not, do check out the newest magazine to hit the online newsstands, Crossroad Magazine. And yes, I’m saying it partly because the Urban Roamer is in it as a contributor.

First things first, you may ask what Crossroad Magazine is about. Basically, it is an online magazine that deals with travel. But be not mistaken that it is like one of those travel magazines you get to see and read in print or online. As explained by the folks behind it, it “tells about life stories and travel – travel features (places) and personal travel experiences. A travel on foot and the journey through life.”

That being said, it is an honor to be part of this publication’s maiden issue, in which I got to share once more (after sharing it previously here in the site) the story of the Manila Post Office Building.

Apart from my story, do check out the other stories that appear magazine that will take you to Binondo to Iloilo and its famed Miagao Church, to the colorful MassKara festival, even to South Korea to follow the journey of our young Filipino scientists in a convention there.

You can grab a copy of Crossroad Magazine for only P99 by accessing the website/app of Buqo.

Also, you can check out the magazine’s website at CrossroadMagazine.com.

LTFRB and its “Uber” Dumb Move

There is nothing like government trying to mess up something that has been running pretty much fine, all in the name of “public welfare”, “doing its (supposed) mandate”, or whatever it may be.

That surely was the line that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) used in defending its latest move, cracking down on the mobile-based ride sharing transport service Uber this week, beginning with a sting operation against an Uber vehicle.

And what is the LTFRB’s reason as to why they are going after Uber? Because it does not have a franchise that public utility vehicles should have in order for them to carry passengers.  Continue reading

Blogapalooza 2014: A Field Report (Part 2)

Part 1 here

Blogapalooza is also the venue for some interesting business ideas. One of them is this guy who was roaming around the venue as the Walking Photobooth, He’s a roaming photographer and photobooth in one who shoots and prints your photos in minutes.

There is also this interesting photo booth courtesy of Imagine Nation Photography which takes you on a journey on a hot air balloon as a way to show the vibrant and creative vibe the studio employs in its photography and videography.

Blogapalooza 2014: A Field Report (Part 1)

Blogapalooza 2014 just happened last October 11 at the SMX Convention Center Taguig at SM Aura, and the Urban Roamer was fortunate to be there for the 2nd year in a row.  You can check out here my field report from last year.

This year saw a bigger venue, with more exhibitors showcasing their products, offers, and what have you to various bloggers. Congratulations are in order to Vince Golangco and folks at When In Manila for yet another successful holding of Blogapalooza this year and here’s hoping next year’s event would be as fun, if not even more fun than this year’s.

Vince Golangco of When In Manila

There is so much to talk about in this year’s Blogapalooza. May this report be a useful guide with what was in store that day.
