A Merry Christmas To All

2016 has been a tough year for many of us, to say the least. From the tragic events that transpired to the vitriol on social media, already compounding whatever struggles we may be going through, things surely have not been easy.

Whatever you may be going through, let this Christmas holiday be a time to reflect not on the sorrows but on the joys and blessings, no matter how “little” they may be, that we got receive this past year. And, even just on this one moment, we can rid the negativity and be happy as the occasion calls for it.

More importantly, let this be a time for us to share goodness to others, those who may have had a bad or worse year compared to yours. Let us be a shining example of goodness and hope that things will get better for 2017.

So from the Urban Roamer to all of the readers and supporters of this site, a very merry and blessed Christmas to all of you!

For those living in Metro Manila and surrounding areas, stay safe and be watchful as well for the storm coming this Christmas weekend.

Christmas in the City 2015: The Lighted Displays Along Ayala Avenue

Christmas is in the air once again, and the metropolis is all aglow with sparkling lights, dazzling decorations and captivating spectacles that capture the senses. Not to mention the horrible traffic, but that’s another topic altogether.

As such, many of the streets these days are lighted with lanterns and colorful lights in Yuletide designs and colors. The main thoroughfare of the Makati Central Business District is one of those brightly lighted streets this season. However, the Makati CBD is doing things a bit differently this Christmas as motorists and commuters are treated to a different street light spectacle, showcasing the heritage and the (Catholic) faith of the country.

International Bazaar: A Global Christmas Shopping Experience

The Christmas season is a time for shopping madness as shopping malls and venues get filled up more than usual, causing unbearable traffic in the process, and bazaars being held at almost every corner of the metropolis. But the thing with bazaars is that they can be all too much of the same thing, offering the same offerings with not much variety and exciting new finds to look forward to.

With that said, there are a few bazaars to look forward to each year, one of them is the subject of this entry today, the International Bazaar that is held every November or so at the PICC Forum.

Meralco’s Bright Christmas

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day may have passed, but until the feast of the Epiphany or the Three Kings, (though they’re not actually kings but Magi or Wise Men) it still is a good excuse to still celebrate the Christmas season. And if you are looking for a place to celebrate the last days of the Christmas season, then you may consider visiting the Meralco Complex along Ortigas Avenue and check out the Liwanag Park.

For all evenings during this Christmas season until January 19, the area surrounding the Meralco headquarters has been converted into this mini theme park of sorts that is illuminated with hundreds of multicolored bright lights. After all, it’s not called Liwanag Park for nothing. Continue reading
