Makati’s Cultural Soul: A Visit To The Ayala Museum

Whenever we hear about Makati and the Makati Central Business District (CBD), we usually associate it with the tall buildings, the swanky hotels, and the classy shopping malls. But in the midst of this modern center of commerce lies a cultural soul of the business district that has managed to thrive to be a landmark in its own right and helped make this part of the metropolis more than just a business hub but a cultural hub as well. Of course, we are talking about the Ayala Museum, one the most well-known museums in the metropolis and the country as a whole.

Art, Anime, and History at Ayala Museum

If you happen to pass by Ayala Museum recently, you may have chanced upon a massive art installation located just outside it. And if you are one of those who grew up during the Martial Law era and loved the Japanese robot animes of the 1970s, especially that certain anime called Voltes V, this artpiece should grab your attention even more.

Even if you are neither of those but is someone who is at least familiar with the story of Voltes V in the Philippines, this work by Toym Imao should be of interest.

Remembering Manila1945 at the Ayala Museum

Truth be told, it has been a crazy period lately for the Urban Roamer. With so much going on, it is unfortunate that I could not get to attend some events that were being held, or could not get to hang out long enough to check out some events up close.

It is especially unfortunate especially that so many events and exhibits have been going on around the metropolis on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Manila. But as the commemoration of #Manila1945 draws to a close, I could not miss out at least one exhibit about it, which in this case would be the exhibit at the Ayala Museum entitled “Manila: My City at War”
